Surgical Consultations

Dr. Parker is a highly skilled gynecologic surgeon. He has spent many years in extensive post-residency training in order to achieve special expertise in advanced laparoscopic, hysteroscopic and fibroid surgery. He is often called upon to teach these procedures to other gynecologists in the United States and abroad.

What makes Dr. Parker such a distinctive and outstanding gynecologist is that in addition to being interested in and especially knowledgeable about the evaluation of problems related to uterine fibroids, he is a recognized expert at performing all of the available gynecologic treatments for fibroids.

While he believes that watchful waiting will suffice for many women, others with more bothersome symptoms may wish treatment. Dr. Parker has superb skills and experience in performing laparoscopic myomectomy, abdominal myomectomy of large fibroids and hysteroscopic myomectomy. He believes uterine artery embolization to be an appropriate form of treatment for certain women with fibroids and, after evaluation, will refer women to Interventional Radiologists in the Los Angeles area who are experienced in this procedure. He believes that laparoscopic or hysteroscopic evaluation is usually not necessary before UFE can be performed. For women who wish hysterectomy as treatment for their fibroids, Dr. Parker has a great deal of experience in laparoscopic supracervical hysterectomy and total laparoscopic hysterectomy and frequently teaches other gynecologists who are trying to learn these difficult surgical techniques. He encourages women to retain their ovaries unless family history or personal issues dictate otherwise.

Dr. Parker's philosophy is surgically conservative, and he often recommends either minimally invasive surgical options or non-surgical treatment of gynecologic problems. We welcome you to see him for consultation regarding your gynecologic problem.
